Ji-Yi Puppet Group is on its mission to “preserve tradition while inspiring innovation,” showcasing the elegance of traditional Taiwanese glove puppetry and striving to present its rich and diverse artistic expressions.
The leader Huang Chiao-Wei, inspired by Taiwan's national treasure puppet master Li Tien-Lu, studied under master puppeteers Chen Hsi-Huang and Lee Chuan-Tsan. He is one of the few performers in Taiwan to have received comprehensive training in traditional glove puppetry.
